A place where Art, Architecture and Design celebrate the union of man with himself and the nature that supports him.
THE CONCEPT
Hunum is also a place of architectural and design research. In the past there was no limit to the possibility of constructing buildings, but this operation was laborious and required the effort of an entire community. For this reason when we visit mountain villages we find this balance between man and nature. The old inhabitants of these areas used stone and wood already present in the area for their buildings, treating them in a natural way to make them more resistant and long-lasting.
Inspired by the respect and pragmatism of our ancestors, in the recovery of the Hunum buildings we decided to keep the recoverable structures unchanged as much as possible, and to reconstruct the rest using natural technologies and materials, which have a low impact on the environment, emphasizing a detachment visible between the original and the reconstructed.
The architectural volumes and the objects that populate them will become a canvas for various artists who will be involved to elevate them to the values contained in our name. Humanus, Humus, Unicum.
The harmonious contrast between traditional and contemporary in the architecture of Hunum.
Story of a return. For those born here, the relationship with the mountains is unique and indissoluble. No matter how far one has traveled or how many adventures one has had, one eventually returns. The word to our founder.
One of the films that marked my childhood was “The Country Boy” with Renato Pozzetto. However, I always struggled to understand the ending. I couldn’t understand how Artemio, after experiencing Milanese life, could be “satisfied” with returning to the countryside. Now I get it.
My name is Luca Capurso, I am a designer, an entrepreneur and, as always, a tireless globetrotter. All my life, as I chased undefined goals around the world, a little voice inside me told a different story. Until a moment of forced stop arrived (for all of us). And I was forced to listen to it.
In those days the seed of Hunum began to sprout. I rediscovered the smell of the earth, of the plants, the sound of the wind among the leaves, and the feeling of serenity that you feel only when immersed in nature. Overwhelmed by nature. I therefore decided to create a structure where I can share this energy with you, trying to “lean” on nature, and not uproot it to make room for human beings. The Hunum project is first of all a bet. I want to demonstrate that human activity can be profitable even by maintaining a human-scale dimension, and operating with a profound respect for nature. As guests, not as invaders.
